A proposal on a catalyst for the reaction methane + water => methanol + hydrogen

چکیده
Based on the concepts and vocabulary of SET model catalysis a discussion is performed what properties should characterize catalyst promoting reaction such as one in title, i.e., production methanol from methane non-oxidative environment. It found that n1 vibration water (3652 cm-1 ) n4 (1306 cm-1) interact resonance.

Methanol and Hydrogen from Methane, Water, and Light
Introduction Research on the conversion of natural gas (methane) has been an ongoing effort at the National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL) for over 20 years. A long-term goal of our research team is to explore novel pathways for the direct conversion of methane to liquid fuels, chemicals, and intermediates. Scheme 1: Proposed pathway for the photocatalytic conversion of methane and water L...
متن کاملReaction of Hydrogen with Oxygen Adsorbed on a Platinum Catalyst.
The release of hydrogen atoms by a platinum surface in contact with molecular hydrogen occurs if there is oxygen in the system. In particular, it is sufficient that the oxygen be adsorbed at the surface of the metal.
متن کاملStability and Thermodynamics of the PtCl2 Type Catalyst for Activating Methane to Methanol: A Computational Study
Stimulated by the report of high-yield, low-temperature catalytic conversion of methane to methyl bisulfate (Periana et al., Science 1998, 280, 560), we studied the relative stability and reaction mechanism of the Pt(NH3)2Cl2 and Pt(bpym)Cl2 complexes in concentrated sulfuric acid. We find that the mechanism involves a series of steps beginning with C-H activation to form an intermediate ion-pa...

متن کاملPseudomorphic Reaction: A New Approach to Produce Bulk Mesoporous Silica as Catalyst Support in Methane Reforming
Pseudomorphism is known as a suitable technique for producing mesoscale pore in silica powders keeping their original morphologies. Herein, silica discs with several millimeter dimensions have been prepared using the same method. This method has been utilized through application of pseudomorphism reaction of preshaped bodies by immersion in a solution containing surfactant and swelling re...
